Ludmila Aristova began her career as a professional fashion designer after graduating from Moscow Textile Institute in 1969. Since 1981, she has been creating one-of-a-kind wearable pieces, which where exhibited and sold at the Moscow Art Salons and to a group of private clients.
Ludmila was introduced to art quilts in 1991, during her first visit to the United States, and began to create her textile-based mixed media works using the perfected techniques she once incorporated in her garments: piecing, appliqué, wafering, embroidery, beading, quilting and other fine hand needlework techniques, which all bear testimony to her superb craftsmanship. Her work is included in numerous museums and private collections in United States, Canada, Asia and Europe, including those of the All-Russia Museum of Decorative Applied and Folk Arts In Moscow, International Quilt Study Center and Museum in Lincoln, Nebraska and the Museum of Arts and Design in New York City.
